Testing Services
Special Hours during the week of November 25th for West Windsor Testing and James Kerney Testing & Learning Centers: Open Monday (11/25) and Tuesday (11/26) 9:00am -500pm as usual. On Wednesday (11/27), closing at 1:30pm with all tests being collected by 1:15pm. Closed for the rest of the week.
Testing Services will be closed on Thursday, August 29th at both the West Windsor Campus and James Kerney Campus.

Student Services
MCCC Course Testing
Students, please be aware of the following:
- Students must present an MCCC photo ID card at their testing appointment.
- Testing is offered by appointment only.
- Personal items are not allowed in the testing room. Students must place all personal items, including turned-off cell phones and/or smart watches, in our lockers.
- Students may not leave the testing room during the test without permission. Once they leave, the test is considered complete, and they may not come back and continue the test.
- Only testing aids allowed by the professor may be used during a test. Unless otherwise requested, we do not allow any calculators that do not allow us to clear their memory such as TI-89, TI-92, or TI-Inspire. In addition, we do not allow students to use personal computers of any kind, even when a textbook is permitted for a test, and they only have an e-book version of their textbook.
Placement Testing
FOR ENGLISH SPEAKERS (ACCUPLACER)
- If you have spoken English for your whole life, or you have achieved an advanced level of English proficiency in prior studies, the Accuplacer Reading test will measure your English skills*. This will be one measure among others used to determine your English course placement. A standard English dictionary will be provided for your use on the test.
To Prepare for the Placement Test

Find out what the test will be like by reading the test description and doing the practice questions for this Accuplacer test.
- Review the appropriate subjects and topics you learned in high school.
- Go to the
Accuplacer website for further resources.

- One retest is permitted for the Reading Placement Test and a fee of $25 will be charged.
* The placement test requirement may be waived if you have SAT or ACT scores at a high enough level or previous college credits.
FOR LEARNERS OF ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE
- If you are a learner of English who has not yet achieved an advanced level of English, an in-person ESL test will measure your English proficiency and indicate the appropriate place for start your classes.
- MCCC uses Accuplacer for the ESL Placement Test: ESL Reading, ESL Listening, and ESL Language Use. Practice questions for this test are available here.
- You must make an appointment to test at one of the Academic Support Centers. To schedule your test appointment, use this form. If you have questions about the ESL placement testing, e-mail academicsupport@mccc.edu or call (609) 570-3295.
- One retest is permitted for the ESL Placement Test and a fee of $25 will be charged.
FACULTY SERVICES
How We Can Work Together:
- We do not offer full course testing; students may use the center for make-up tests or accommodated testing only and only by appointment.
- Group test assessments, specialty testing, certifications, or program entrance exams must be discussed with the Associate Director and Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs at least a semester in advance.
- Pick up all tests at the end of the semester. Department tests should be reviewed (and replaced as needed) each semester.
- Do not ask any Academic Support staff member to release test grades or scores to students by phone or email. This is a violation of FERPA regulations.
- Tests should be brought to our center with the correct number of copies and the approved Exam Submission cover sheet. Please coordinate with division administrative staff if copying is needed.
- Do not ask your students to leave homework or other assignments with us. We cannot accept responsibility for collecting course work for students.
- Deadline extensions must be communicated in advance of the student(s) coming to test. Please send an email to
academicsupport@mccc.edu and include your name, course number, test number and individual student name(s).
- Contact the Academic Support Center directly to relay specific testing information and/or make updates on student’s test (i.e., modified what testing aids are allowed, etc.). We will not accept modifications communicated through students.
Batch Scoring through the Academic Support Centers Digital Desk System
- Forms for both the answer keys and the student answer sheets can be picked up from the division office.

The Batch Scoring Request Form must be completed and returned to Testing Services with the student answer sheets and answer key (if the key is not on file with Testing Services).
- Please allow
3 to 5
business days to complete the scoring of the batch.
- Students must
CORRECTLY input their student ID numbers (their MCCC student id number is seven digits and must include proper leading zeros).
- When batch scoring has been completed you will be emailed (if requested) an Exam Activity Report and an Exam Item Analysis Report. Individual Score Reports, if requested, must be picked up at our center.

Answer keys and student answer sheets must be bubbled by No. 2 pencil only. Ink pen or flare marker pen cannot be processed by the scanner.
Exam Accommodations
Test Submission
- All exams require submission to be
a minimum of 3 business days (Monday – Friday) prior
to the start date to allow time for processing.

For your convenience, for tests to be administered at the West Windsor Campus only, you may submit exams after hours by placing the materials in an envelope with the required cover sheet and placing the information
in the secure DROP BOX outside the office (LB-216). This applies to exams to be taken or Batch Graded at West Windsor. Exams received in the Drop Box after hours will be considered submitted the next business day.

Test Submittal General instructions for all Test Types
- Test submissions must include a cover sheet to specify your course by abbreviation (e.g., ACC-112), the section number (e.g., 010), the beginning and end dates of your exam, and any other details regarding test administration. To assist in resolving unexpected problems with exam(s), please be sure to give a contact number and email address.
- On the cover sheet, please indicate whether students are allowed to use any testing aids such as a calculator or dictionary. Please note that if you allow students to use scrap paper, any scrap paper used by the students will be attached to their individual tests.
- The first page of each physical copy of the exam must include the following in the heading
- 1) teacher name
- 2) course number
- 3) unit test/quiz number
- 4) booklet copy number (each test copy should be numbered, i.e., 1, 2, 3, etc. for tracking purposes
- 5) space for the student to write their name
- Please provide enough physical copies of the test to equal the number of students permitted to test at our center.
Specific Instructions for Each Test Type

SCANTRON GRADED cover sheet for any exam administered in the testing center. Please use the provided fillable PDF form. Handwritten forms will be returned.
EXAMINATION PROCTORING SERVICES
You can earn college credits for what you already know by taking an exam at the West Windsor Testing Center!
CLEP and
DSST are nationally recognized tests that cover a variety of introductory college subjects. You do not have to be a Mercer County Community College student to take these exams at our center.

DISTANCE LEARNING/PROCTORED EXAMS
Our Academic Support Center is certified to proctor tests for non-MCCC students. Non-MCCC students can use our center for examination services for national tests or can arrange to have an exam sent from their home institution.
General Guidelines for all Non-MCCC Test-Takers:
Inform your college/university/high school/association/business that you plan to test here at Mercer County Community College, and we are an approved testing site for your institution.
If applicable, have your institution’s proctor agreement forms emailed to
academicsupport@mccc.edu including a contact name and email address.
