What is Guided Pathways to Success@MCCC?

The Guided Pathways approach focuses on helping students understand their pathway to success, make good decisions along that pathway, and feel supported as they progress.

There are four "pillars" of GPS:

• Clarifying the Path
• Entering the Path
• Staying on the Path
• Ensuring that Students are Learning

MCCC is working in all of these areas.

What does this look like at MCCC?

Clarifying the Path

Program Maps provide clear guidance about what students should take each semester.

Career Coach helps students understand their academic and career options with personal guidance.

Entering the Path

Multiple Placement Measures... Provide an accurate and equitable measure of student ability to avoid unnecessary remediation.

Redesigned Developmental Education, including accelerated options in both math and English allow students to decrease time spent in pre-college classes.

Health Science Meta-Majors... allow students to explore the health sciences to find the right career for them.

Required College Success Course... Gives students the tools they need to succeed.

Personal Success Coaches... provide proactive support to help students with school and life management.

Dedicated Science Learning, Business, and Writing Centers... provide discipline-specific academic support.

Robust assessment across courses and programs improves student outcomes.
