Mercer men's basketball (5-1) lost their first game of the season to rival Essex 52-58. Sophomores Tyliek Kimbrough (Brooklyn, NY/Boys and Girls) and David Johnson (Philadelphia, PA) each had a game-high 14 points in the loss.  Sophomores Mustafa El-Amin (Mt. Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley) and Dashante Alexander (Philadelphia, PA/Simon Gratz) each added 9 points in the losing effort.
