Women's Basketball Coach
Mike Tenaglia Notches 300th Win
2/3/09
MCCC's
Mike Tenaglia celebrated his 300th win as head coach for women's basketball
on Jan. 31 in a home game against Salem Community College, which the
Mercer women won 78-57. With the win, the Lady Vikes' record for the
season stands at 16-8.
Looking back on his 19 years of coaching at MCCC, Tenaglia reflected
on the many young women who have come through his program. He noted
that basketball is a means, not an end. "I always tell my players
that their education is the priority. I want them to understand that
basketball is a part of life, not their whole life."
According to Tenaglia, the skills that are built on the court serve
his players well in life: being on time and ready to work, accomplishing
goals as a team, and learning to release stress through appropriate
channels such as sports. |
