Mercer
Women "Think Pink" with
Breast Cancer Resource Center Feb. 7
2/8/12
West
Windsor, N.J. - Mercer's chapter of the American Association
for Women in Community Colleges once again co-sponsored a
"Think Pink" Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Feb.
7 in cooperation with the Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC)
of the YWCA Princeton. The event was held in the Physical
Education building on the West Windsor campus to coincide
with the men's and women's basketball games versus Burlington
County College. Women's and men's players from both teams
donned pink shoelaces in support of the event.
Now in its second year, "Think Pink" featured an
informational display in the lobby. At the conclusion of the
women's game, MCCC President Patricia C. Donohue presented
BCRC representatives with 25 handmade woolen hats for breast
cancer patients, which were made by members of the women's
basketball team. In
addressing the fans, Dr. Donohue noted the important contribution
of MCCC's female athletes and thanked all of those who helped
make the event possible.
Raffle
prizes and a three-point shooting contest during the men's
game added to the festivities.
Approximately $300 was raised from ticket sales and other
donations, including the proceeds of a bake sale at the event
by members of the women's cross country team.
Players
from both teams donned pink shoelaces.
